What is the difference between a lottery and a lotto game.

Good question!  A lottery game is defined as a game where 3 digits (in the Pick-3) or 4 digits (in the Pick-4) are combined to make up a whole number.  The each digit ranges from 0-9.  Digits can repeat (for example: 001 or 0002) or, may be entirely unique (for example: 652 or 7814).  A lotto game, such as the Pick-5, Pick-6, Mega-Millions and Powerball Game there are at least 4 unique numbers each greater than zero, and less than or equal to the maximum range.  These numbers cannot repeat themselves in a specific game.  (for example: 02, 14, 24, 36, 48, 17).  However, a separate Powerball Number can be the same and one of the unique numbers.

What is the difference between a lotto game and a mega game?

Actually, the mega-millions and powerball games are lotto games consisting of five unique numbers and a separate powerball number.  What makes them different is that the sixth number is considered a powerball number and is typically at a much higher maximum range than the preceding 5 numbers.  In the U.S. this powerball number range increases each time a new state joins the mega game.

What do you mean by the “maximum range”?

The maximum range is simply the highest number ( or numeric value ) that a lotto game offers at the present time.  For example, if the highest numeric value offered in a Pick-5 game is 40, the game is said to be a 1 to 40 or 1-40 game.
