The Best Tattoo Designs

A Few of the More Popular Tattoo Designs

tattoos are done in all sorts of types. People also get them for a range of reasons and although the choice of design is various, there are those that stand out. They are ranked by a lot of tattoo artists as the designs they are most requested for. Below, in no exact order are some of today’s most requested styles. As a side note, my favorite tattoo book is Chooper Tattoo.

Tribal – During the past few decades, tribal tattoo types have risen in the ranks and has grown to be, and for many tattoo artists, the most requested tattoo design type ever. Tribal types take their inspiration from the tattoo designs used by indigenous tribes from all over the world. Many tattoo artists also verify that of all their tribal designs, Maori ones are the most requested. I have found a several good Maori designs in Tattoo Fever Ultimate Tattoo Design recently too.

Kanji – Chinese character tattoo styles are also very popular. Often, this tattoo design is the one preferred by persons who are getting their initial tattoo. Kanji tattoos are usually done in names or phrases. Singular symbols (i.e. life, fire, air) are also standard.

Stars – For several reasons, stars are a very popular choice in relation to tattoo design. It’s popularity may be owning to the fact that the sign is simple, yet can hold a lot of meaning. Nautical stars seem to be the most sought after. Females, however, seem to prefer star clusters instead of nautical stars.

Roses and Hearts – Flowers are a in style tattoo design demand, but of all flowers, roses stand out.. The heart, no matter what the condition (i.e. broken, bleeding, speared by a love arrow, and so on.) are also as trendy as roses. Every so often the two are even used jointly in the same design.

Barbwire – When it comes to band tattoos, barbwire are the most trendy. They are usually placed on the arms, wrists, ankles, or legs. Sometimes barbwires are also used to accent or border more elaborate tattoo concepts.

Butterfly – This is especially trendy with the ladies and is regularly regarded as a feminine sign. It is usually placed on the lower back, the tush, the nape or the neck or somewhere else that’s unseen. Ladies are also known to prefer flowers and fairies, although these last two are also a staple amongst men.

Celtic knot work, Celtic Crosses, and Crosses in General – Knotwork is known for its intricateness and attention to detail. Crosses are also popular and this category also involves Celtic crosses that may or may not have certain Celtic knot work on them.

Tattoo styles in receipt of an honorable mention include the constantly popular name tattoos – be it a name of a loved one or a stranger, the latter most often a result of a drunken night out. Other trendy tattoo styles include fire, pistols, fish, dolphins, dragons, suns, pin-up girls, crowns, eagles, and wings.  Cultural symbols are also trendy also, they include the Om and the Ankh.

Although I am a big tattoo fan I always advise against people running into tattoo parlor and screaming tattoo me now, as this can lead to problems later when you regret the design and it is too late. So make sure you get it right!
