The Best Events On The Isle Of Wight For June 2010

Events on the Isle of Wight are beginning to get hotter as June arrives. The weather on the Island is normally milder than the UK mainland, so summer should be guaranteed. This is more than can be said for the UK mainland.

The main attraction on the island during June is the IOWfestival, which is different to Bestival. It is the lifeblood of the Island’s young people and has been around for more than forty years. It has great popularity with people from far and wide, all over Europe and beyond. There is great musical diversity to be seen at the festival with acoustic and electric artists, with a spirit that has been maintained over the years. The festival has a reputation for promoting the careers of fledgling musicians and bands. As well as this, it projects the careers of established stars, famous throughout the world of music. This year, at the festival, the headline act is Paul McCartney who never managed to feature during the heady days of the Beatles. The Festival takes place on the Isle of Wight at the Seaclose Park between 10th and 13th of June.

If rock is not your scene, but continuing with the musical theme, the Midsummer Jazz concert is raring to go on the 26th June. It is only on for one night and features the talents of the Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

If you like cycling, you will certainly be interested in the BHF Off-road round the island bike challenge. This event is designed to raise money for pioneering heart research for the British Heart Foundation. The ride starts and finishes at Newport taking in the entire island over the distance of 100km. It is simple to get your bike across the Solent, the stretch of water separating the Island with the rest of the UK. There are some good deals going on the Wightlink website, the main operator of the IOW ferry service.
